Chained Beasts is a modest PC/Mac game on paper: 8 GB RAM and a GTX 1050-class GPU are the floor. The real requirement is a gamepad if you want same-screen co-op on PC.

Controllers and local co-op

  • Full controller support. The Steam page lists full controller support and recommends a gamepad.
  • Same-screen co-op on PC needs a gamepad. The official requirements state at least one gamepad is required for same-screen co-op.
  • Online crossplay is supported across PC and consoles.
  • Steam Remote Play Together is supported on Steam.

Performance advice

These are general PC tips, not official fixes. The developers have not published a launch performance guide.

  • Install on an SSD. It reduces loading friction and is the cheapest quality-of-life upgrade.
  • Update your GPU driver. New releases often benefit from a day-one driver.
  • Close background overlays. Overlays and capture tools can interfere with controller input and frame pacing.
  • Test the tutorial first. The prison tutorial is a low-stakes way to check performance and controller bindings.
  • Use the official channels for bugs. If you hit a crash or a soft-lock, report it on the Featherweight Discord or the Steam discussions with your specs and a description.

No browser version

Chained Beasts is not playable in a browser. There is no official HTML5 build and the free Carthage demo was taken offline at launch. This guide links to the official stores instead of embedding a fake player.
